To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer] 'Run' = '00000001'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'auto_update' = '"%PROGRAM_FILES%\Microsoft.NET\csrss.exe"'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\USER-4BB09A9C02 documents.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\system~1\_resto~1\RP09.exe
Malicious functions:
Executes the following:
- %WINDIR%\regedit.exe -s "%PROGRAM_FILES%\Microsoft.NET\102948.reg"
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- C:\autorun.inf
- %PROGRAM_FILES%\microsoft frontpage\102948.reg
- C:\niaw\RP09.exe
- C:\USER-4BB09A9C02 documents.exe
- %HOMEPATH%\My Documents\msg-usse.txt
- %PROGRAM_FILES%\microsoft frontpage\time.dat
- C:\Documents and Settings\csrss.exe
- %PROGRAM_FILES%\microsoft frontpage\csrss.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\system~1\_resto~1\RP09.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- C:\niaw\RP09.exe
- %PROGRAM_FILES%\microsoft frontpage\csrss.exe
- C:\Documents and Settings\csrss.exe
Deletes the following files:
- C:\autorun.inf
