To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'Svchost' = '%WINDIR%\svchost.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\system.exe
Malicious functions:
Creates and executes the following:
- '%WINDIR%\svchost.exe'
Executes the following:
- '<SYSTEM32>\reg.exe' add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run /v Svchost /t REG_SZ /D %WINDIR%\svchost.exe /F
- '%WINDIR%\explorer.exe' <Current directory>
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- C:\autorun.inf
- C:\system.exe
- %WINDIR%\svchost.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\system.exe
- C:\system.exe
- %WINDIR%\svchost.exe
- C:\autorun.inf
Miscellaneous:
Searches for the following windows:
- ClassName: '' WindowName: '(null)'
- ClassName: 'Shell_TrayWnd' WindowName: '(null)'
