To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'System3' = 'D\vir\winlogon.exe'
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAX5-90401C608512}] 'StubPath' = 'D\vir\winlogon.exe'
Creates the following services:
- [<HKCU>\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\KMService6] 'ImagePath' = '<SYSTEM32>\srvany.exe'
- [<HKCU>\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\KMService6] 'Start' = '00000002'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\vir\<Virus name>.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\vir\desktop.ini
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
Executes the following:
- '<SYSTEM32>\taskmgr.exe'
- '<SYSTEM32>\taskkill.exe' /F /IM Taskmgr.exe /T
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- C:\vir\<Virus name>.exe
- C:\vir\desktop.ini
- C:\autorun.inf
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- C:\autorun.inf
- C:\vir\desktop.ini
- C:\vir\<Virus name>.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\vir\desktop.ini
- <Drive name for removable media>:\vir\<Virus name>.exe
Miscellaneous:
Searches for the following windows:
- ClassName: '(null)' WindowName: '(null)'
- ClassName: 'Indicator' WindowName: '(null)'
- ClassName: '' WindowName: 'Windows Task Manager'
- ClassName: 'Shell_TrayWnd' WindowName: '(null)'
