To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'System' = '<SYSTEM32>\system.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\system.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Autorun.inf
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
blocks execution of the following system utilities:
- Windows Task Manager (Taskmgr)
- Registry Editor (RegEdit)
Executes the following:
- <SYSTEM32>\format.com d: /q /u /y
- <SYSTEM32>\format.com e: /q /u /y
- <SYSTEM32>\shutdown.exe -s -t 0
- <SYSTEM32>\cmd.exe /c <SYSTEM32>\system.bat
- <SYSTEM32>\format.com c: /q /u /y
Modifies settings of Windows Explorer:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] 'NoFind' = '00000001'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] 'NoRun' = '00000001'
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer] 'NoFolderOptions' = '00000001'
Attempts to shut down the Windows operating system.
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- C:\system.exe
- C:\Autorun.inf
- <Auxiliary element>
- <SYSTEM32>\system32.txt
- <SYSTEM32>\system.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\system.bat
- <SYSTEM32>\system.inf
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- C:\system.exe
- C:\Autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\system.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Autorun.inf
- <SYSTEM32>\system.inf
- <SYSTEM32>\system.exe
- <Full path to virus>
- <SYSTEM32>\system.bat
