Technical Information
To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'opesys' = '%WINDIR%\System\winsys.exe'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'opesys' = '%WINDIR%\System\windll.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\windll.exe
Malicious functions:
Executes the following:
- '<SYSTEM32>\reg.exe' add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run /v opesys /t REG_SZ /d %WINDIR%\System\windll.exe /f
- '<SYSTEM32>\reg.exe' add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run /v opesys /t REG_SZ /d %WINDIR%\System\winsys.exe /f
- '<SYSTEM32>\taskkill.exe' /f /im internet.exe
- '<SYSTEM32>\cmd.exe' /c %WINDIR%\System\winsys.bat
- '<SYSTEM32>\cmd.exe' /c %WINDIR%\System\winsysdll.bat
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- %WINDIR%\system\winsysdll.bat
- C:\windll.exe
- C:\autorun.inf
- %WINDIR%\system\winsys.bat
- %WINDIR%\system\winlog.txt
- %WINDIR%\system\windll.exe
- %WINDIR%\system\winsys.exe
Modifies the HOSTS file.
