To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'VURAV' = '%WINDIR%\VURAV.com'
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] 'Shell' = 'Explorer.exe "%WINDIR%\Drive XP.exe"'
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Classes\jpegfile\shell\open\command] '' = '%WINDIR%\ntpad.cmd'
Creates or modifies the following files:
- %HOMEPATH%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Intel M.bat
- %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\StartUp.exe
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\UR32.scr
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
- file extensions
Creates and executes the following:
- %WINDIR%\inf\UR32.exe
- %WINDIR%\inf\ctfmon.exe
- %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\StartUp.exe
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- %WINDIR%\ntpad.cmd
- %WINDIR%\inf\UR32.exe
- %WINDIR%\inf\ctfmon.exe
- %WINDIR%\Drive XP.exe
- %HOMEPATH%\Templates\winword.com
- C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Templates\winword.com
- %WINDIR%\inf\msvbvm60.dll
- %WINDIR%\system\msvbvm60.dll
- %WINDIR%\VURAV.com
- %HOMEPATH%\Start Menu\Programs\ImageReady Patch\Patch.cmd
- %WINDIR%\inf\MyEgg.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\UR32.scr
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- %WINDIR%\Drive XP.exe
- %WINDIR%\VURAV.com
- %WINDIR%\ntpad.cmd
Deletes the following files:
- %TEMP%\~DF14D1.tmp
- %TEMP%\~DFEA0B.tmp
