To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'Sonica' = '%WINDIR%\Sonica.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\HIV.exe
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
blocks execution of the following system utilities:
- Windows Task Manager (Taskmgr)
Executes the following:
- <SYSTEM32>\taskkill.exe /f /t /im WinRAR.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\taskkill.exe /f /t /im egui.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\taskkill.exe /f /t /im avp.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\taskkill.exe /f /t /im AvastSvc.exe
Terminates or attempts to terminate
the following user processes:
- AVP.EXE
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- C:\autorun.inf
- %WINDIR%\Sonica.exe
- C:\HIV.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\HIV.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- C:\HIV.exe
- C:\autorun.inf

Searches for the following windows:
- ClassName: '' WindowName: ''
- ClassName: 'Shell_TrayWnd' WindowName: ''
