Technical Information
To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'Explorer' = '<SYSTEM32>\check error.exe'
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'Explore' = '%WINDIR%\system mycomputer.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Kiuc.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Autorun.inf
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
blocks execution of the following system utilities:
- Registry Editor (RegEdit)
Creates and executes the following:
- %WINDIR%\system mycomputer.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\check error.exe
Modifies settings of Windows Explorer:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] 'NoClose' = '00000001'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] 'Norun' = '00000001'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] 'NoFolderOptions' = '00000001'
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- C:\RECYCLER.exe
- %PROGRAM_FILES%.exe
- C:\<Auxiliary name>.exe
- <Auxiliary element>
- C:\Kiuc.exe
- %WINDIR%.exe
- C:\System Volume Information.exe
- C:\Far2.exe
- %WINDIR%\system mycomputer.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\check error.exe
- %WINDIR%\Error.dll
- C:\Documents and Settings.exe
- <Current directory>.exe
- C:\Autorun.inf
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- C:\Kiuc.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Kiuc.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\check error.exe
- %WINDIR%\system mycomputer.exe
- C:\Autorun.inf
Deletes the following files:
- %TEMP%\~DFDE02.tmp
- %TEMP%\~DF234E.tmp
