To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows] 'Load' = '<SYSTEM32>\ctfdon.exe'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'videodll' = '<SYSTEM32>\xvidcore.exe'
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'videodll' = '<SYSTEM32>\ctfdon.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\MyWorm\@meba.exe
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
- file extensions
Creates and executes the following:
- <SYSTEM32>\xvidcore.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\ctfdon.exe
Executes the following:
- %WINDIR%\explorer.exe \
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- C:\MyWorm\@meba.exe
- C:\Autorun.inf
- <SYSTEM32>\xvidcore.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\ctfdon.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- C:\MyWorm\@meba.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\MyWorm\@meba.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\ctfdon.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\xvidcore.exe
- C:\Autorun.inf
Deletes the following files:
- %TEMP%\~DFC3BB.tmp
Miscellaneous:
Searches for the following windows:
- ClassName: 'MS_WINHELP' WindowName: ''
- ClassName: 'Indicator' WindowName: ''
- ClassName: '' WindowName: ''
- ClassName: 'Shell_TrayWnd' WindowName: ''
