To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\explorer\run] 'CRNJEUFU' = '.vbe'
Creates or modifies the following files:
- %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\.vbs
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\.vbs
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
Executes the following:
- '<SYSTEM32>\wscript.exe' "<SYSTEM32>\.vbe"
- '<SYSTEM32>\wscript.exe' c:\peviros.vbs
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- %WINDIR%\.vbe
- <SYSTEM32>\.vbe
- C:\PeViRoS.vbs
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\.vbs
- %WINDIR%\.vbe
- C:\PeViRoS.vbs
- <SYSTEM32>\.vbe
Deletes the following files:
- %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\.vbs
